All About Kari
Kari’s House was established in February 1995 to offer high quality child care services in our community. Previously, I was employed at a local hospital for 18 years.
I am a member of Family Child Care Inc., our local provider association, and have served on the Board of Directors in various positions. I have also completed training to teach and mentor new family child care providers. Professional development goals include 40+ hours of education annually in nutrition, childrens activities, child development, CPR, First Aid and business practices. I have also completed training with SEEDS Early Literacy (sponsored by First Steps and Child Care Resource & Referral), Second Step (award winning violence prevention program intregrating academics with social and emotional learning) and The Ounce Scale (a developmental observation and assessment tool). I was deeply honored to receive the Olmsted County Provider of the Year award in 2006.
Our two children, now grown, were in various child care programs throughout their childhood. These past experiences allow me to view child care from the parent’s perspective. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to make a career change at the right time in my life. I enjoy the rewards of being a small business owner while sharing the everyday joys and delights of early childhood. I can truly say that my job allows me to make a difference in a child’s life. My family is always supportive and we all treasure the children that have shared our home and hearts.
